Making the 'Danny' from start to finish
Latest addition December 2, 2009

Join me in the creation of a new model, called the 'Danny' . Here's the thought; a 15 inch jazz guitar (to fill the gap between the Junior and 16 inch models), thinline design, carved spruce top, laminated maple back, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, 2 Lollar Imperial humbuckers. Built for that classic smooth jazz tone with an attitude !

In summary what has been done so far:

This is a prototype (non-commissioned) guitar and work is done as time permits; don't worry if you don't see any updates for a few weeks or so, then I am busy on other guitars.

(please note that the latest additions are placed at the top of the page)

Danny is finished !

Danny is finished with waterbase lacquer; friendly for the finisher, the environment and the player as it closely resembles the look and feel nitro cellulose lacquer (nitro cellulose lacquer is still available on commissioned guitars when requested)
The blueburst is made in 4 steps; light blue stain on the bare wood, blue colour coats, black colour coats and clear coats to seal in the colour

Carved neck with 'travel head'
There is left some wood at the neck / head transition, without being in the way of playing comfort.
Sure you won't break the head/neck, but if Danny is a travelling guitar, some airline worker will no doubt try to do so
